Justin Wilhelm, PT, DPT, OCS
Justin is a Board Certified Specialist in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy. He recieved his BS in Exercise Science from Appalachian State University, and his Master and Doctor of Physical Therapy degrees from UNC-Chapel Hill. His primary focuses are orthopedics, sports medicine, and custom foot orthotics.
Originally from Charlotte, NC, Justin grew up playing basketball, baseball, football, team handball and ultimate frisbee. Unfortunately, he was forced to retire from competitive sports after graduate school because of multiple orthopedic injuries he sustained throughout his early adulthood. His passion and enthusiasm of sports continue to live on by rehabilitating sports-related injuries.
During his Doctoral studies, Justin learned how to fabricate custom foot orthotics under the mentorship of Michael Gross, PT, Ph.D., FAPTA. Dr. Gross is the leading researcher at UNC-Chapel Hill in the efficacy of foot orthotics in the treatment of lower extremity disorders. Justin provides orthotics at Trinity Wellness through his own company, Mobiliy Human Performance where he fabricates semi-rigid, custom foot orthotics for patients as well as providing a variety of other custom footwear solutions.
Justin is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), the North Carolina Orthopaedic Special Interest Group, and the APTA Foot and Ankle Special Interest Group. He serves as Trinity's Clinical Education Coordinator where he supervises student clinical affiliations, internships and volunteer experiences. He also serves as the director of Trinity's on site services at Crossfit-RDU. Outside of work, Justin enjoys watching sports, traveling and exploring new places with his wife and daughter, exercising, watching movies, and socializing with friends.
